Andy Warhol

Should the artist actually create the work, or does his idea or description of it suffice?
What is the relationship between original and reproduction, individual and crowd, art and commerce?

i love this topic... essentially art is about ideas. as art has become more and more conceptual over the last 100 years we are posed with the question: do you really need to execute an idea (materialize) for it to be considered legit? is a urinal art? no. is marcel duchamps urinal art? yes. why?
art is a dialog that persists between those who question and reflect upon the way we see our selves and our worlds.
a true work of art is one that communicates something new and enriching.

I agree. But to what extent should we consider that it is "art". Duchamp's whole point was to question what was considered beatiful and oppose it. The "ready mades", the series in which he exposes the urinal was an perfect example of rebelion.
But should we considered everything art? Should everyone be as valuable as an academic artist? Souldn't the artist be the one who manages to transmit his ideas in some material way?
